The TCU Library houses a media library of DVD/VHS videos and offers access to online (streaming) videos in addition.

Browse/search options

Browse popular film-TV (DVD/VHS) videos using Popular films & TV” links or call number and keyword searches.

Search for any DVD, VHS or Streaming videos in the Media Library using the library catalog “Format” selections (suggestions below).

Search for all formats simultaneously using FrogScholar (select Content Type “Video Recording”).

Browse or search for streaming videos in various databases starting from the Databases tab in the Video Resources Guide or choose "Video" from the "Type" box on the Databases page.

Helpful hint:  call numbers must be presented to Music/Media Library staff to retrieve Media Library (DVD/VHS) video recordings.  The library catalog and FrogScholar show these call numbers plus “location” links.

Other video-finding options

A selection of outstanding free video sources is listed under the “Video from the web” tab in the Video Resources Guide.

Suggestions for video catalog searches

  • Select desired format from the Format drop-down box

  • Select “Title words” and enter title information, if known (try “Words anywhere” if no results)

  • Select "Words anywhere" and enter topic words such as global warming, teenagers or war

  • Select "Author words" and enter the name of a featured person, director or publisher, if known

  • Select "Subject words" for films that were originally books and enter adaptations (use plural or adaptation*)

  • Use the search string "feature films" or "motion pictures" for non-documentary (leisure, fun, rainy day, saw-it-in-the-theater) films

For greater specificity use quotation marks to keep terms in a phrase together, for example - "global warming".

Use the * (asterisk) to allow for alternate word beginnings, endings, or single characters, for example - teen* (teens, teenagers, teenaged...); wom*n* (woman, women, woman's, women's).
