There are two Scantron grading machines located in the Library. Each grades different types of forms.

(1) Self-Service Unit (smaller green Scantron forms)

The self-service Scantron Test Scoring Machine is available in the library for grading tests. This machine reads Scantron Test Forms 882-E and 886-E and Scantron Item Analysis Form 9700 (images of each below). The machine is located in library room 2172, the printing station on the north side of the east library, and is available any time the library is open. The same model self-service Scantron machine is available at two other places on campus also: Scharbauer 4200 and Winton-Scott 423.

Forms:

  • SGA provides free Scantron test sheets 882-E, 815-E, 886-E, and TCU Scantron (Purple/Blue) each semester. They are available at the Information Commons Desk. No more than three forms are dispensed at a time. Students may also purchase test forms at the TCU Bookstore.

  • Item Analysis Forms 9700 are available at the Research Support Desk.

    • This form determines how many students missed each question allowing the teacher to evaluate the difficulty level of the test.

    • Analysis forms available at the library are for tests scored on the library machine only. Analysis forms for machines in other locations must be purchased by personnel at that location.

Prior to using the machine:

  • Create an answer key using the same test form used by the students

  • Feed the key through the machine

  • Feed the student answer forms through the machine

  • Feed the Item Analysis through the machine (if desired)

  • More detailed instructions are available at the machine site

The librarian on duty at the Research Support Desk is also available to answer your questions.

(2) Bear Test Scanner (larger blue Scantrons)

This is not a self-service unit. It scans the larger blue Scantrons (see image below) and creates a digital report for the faculty member. Tests must be dropped off between 8:30 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday. They will be scanned and returned within 2 to 3 business days.

This machine is located on the Library's first floor, at the IT Support FrogPad, on the east side of the building below the stairs.
