How do I find Music Scores?

Answer

Music scores

Specific scores by title or opus number can be searched using the library catalog search function within FrogScholar. Music scores are housed in two locations; the Music/Media Library Main Stacks and the sheet music filing cabinets behind the front counter. Music scores have the call number designation “M”. A limited number of printable scores may be found in two databases: Classical Music Scores and African American Music Reference, found on the list of multimedia databases.

Basic Search

  • Enter the title of the work you want to find in the search box. Use official op. and no. or thematic catalog number (K. ##, BWV ##) whenever possible.
  • After results populate, click "Library Catalog" in the choices next to the search box.
  • To the left side, click "Library" and "Music" to limit to the Music/Media Library.
  • Further limit your search using the left side limiters based on the format (physical scores, electronic scores, audio materials)
  • Within the results, you may need to click on "multiple versions" and reset the limiters on the left side to get the correct format.
